What is The GDPR and what does it mean for you?
You may have heard murmurs around something called The GDPR over the past few months and you may not have had the time to find out much about it. So, we’ve written a brief overview about what it is and how it affects you.
Firstly, it’s probably best to tell you what The GDPR actually stands for. It is The General Data Protection Regulation and it is a European law that takes effect on May 25th 2018 designed to protect the personal data of its citizens. The GDPR is focused on re-empowering individuals, and giving them more control over their personal data, with new, enhanced, and up-to-date data protection rights.
Know your rights
You have the right to be informed about how TSSPRO use your data. We’ve recently updated our privacy policy and cookie policy to explain in clearer detail how TSSPRO use your data. You have the right of access. If you have any doubt about the accuracy or lawfulness of the processing of your personal data you have the right to make a ‘subject access request’ meaning you can request a copy of the personal data TSSPRO hold about you by emailing us at [email protected]. It is our duty to respond to you within 1 month of receiving your request. (Please be aware some administration costs may be incurred.)
You have the right to rectification. If you discover an error in the personal data TSSPRO hold about you, you can request we update our records. Please notify us by emailing details of the change to us . It is our duty to ensure the changes are made within 1 month of your request.
You have the right to object. If you want TSSPRO to cease using your personal data for direct marketing and processing for research or statistical purposes, then you can let us know by emailing us at or by clicking unsubscribe on any of our direct marketing emails.
You have the right to erasure. When there is a problem with the underlying legality of the processing, you can request your data be erased by emailing us at [email protected]. Please be aware that once this has been processed we cannot guarantee your account settings can be redeemed after erasure.
You have the right to restrict processing. If TSSPRO dispute that the information held is inaccurate and we need a little more time to verify it – you have the right to restrict the processing of your information until this is done.
You have the right to move your data. Data portability allows you to request your data for you to be able to move it elsewhere. We will respond within 1 month of receiving your request when you by email us.
